Inslee's strongest support in Seattle
Concern about party loyalties
I want to thank you for the recent, interesting analysis of our election results [“Blue Seattle, the kingmaker,” NWMonday, Dec. 3].
I am an independent-leaning Republican voter, fiscally conservative and moderately liberal on social issues. I was disappointed at Rob McKenna’s loss, partly because I thought we needed a change of parties and I thought he would be a fine governor.
But I am particularly disappointedly what the result tells me about our voting public. Apparently, voters were swayed by Gov.-elect Jay Inslee’s nasty personal attacks despite the fact The Times and others labeled the ads as “mostly false.” Also, Seattle voters apparently ignored the careful analysis of the candidates by The Times.
I am concerned about our future when so many voters are either ill-informed or blind to anything but party loyalty.
