Council scrutinizes McGinn-Vulcan proposal
Deception in Vulcan plans
I compliment The Seattle Times on the detailed articles regarding the South Lake Union rezone [“McGinn-Vulcan plan would put 24-story buildings on lake Union,” page one, Nov. 14, and “Council to McGinn: Not so fast on Vulcan proposal,” page one, Dec. 1]. I attended the City Council hearing on this issue on Nov. 14, in which representatives of Vulcan and a number of building contractors testified that Vulcan proposes to donate Block 59 to the city. What a deception.
Vulcan would sell it to the city, getting full credit for the appraised value of the property in exchange for otherwise payable development fees. Wake up, Seattle.
