House bill eases visa restrictions for advanced-degree holders
Need for fairness
In response to “House passes advanced-degree visa bill” [News, Dec. 1], I suggest a policy that provides 55,000 visas for those with doctoral degrees and 55,000 for apple pickers. Or, how about, 25,000 for those with master’s degrees and 25,000 for construction workers?
These days my question for any new policy is, “Will this policy result in a greater divide between those who have and those who don’t?” History tells us the greater the divide, the greater the risk of failure. When will we learn to be fair?
