Controversy for pension-raise debate

Ruling should not be challenged
As to The Seattle Times editorial “Pension raise ruling should be reversed,” Editorials, Nov. 27], the editorial board failed to take into account Person 1 Plan retirees who took the lump-sum payment or adjustment option when signing up.

The option was to accept a cost of living adjustment (COLA) each year or a lump-sum payment after 10 years with no COLAs yearly.

Therefore, a retiree who signed up in year 2000 and waited 10 years for a pension increase received nothing upon legislative actions in 2011. This was patently unfair and not right. The ruling should be allowed to go ahead.
