Senate votes on polar bear pelt import legislation

It’s the economy, stupid

So after a $2 billion election-spending campaign, our elected senators voted 92-5 to move the bill on importing stored polar bear pelts in Canada to the United States, to a full vote later this week? [“Senate to vote on bill to import polar bear plants,” news, Nov. 14.]

No wonder our elected senators are unconcerned about their participation in the voters 24 percent approval rating of Congress. It must be the House’s fault, isn't' it?
Read my lips: It’s the economy stupid.
