Hostess closes Seattle bakery after union strike
Greed of union outweighs common sense
Well, I guess now those in the bakers union will have plenty of time to rethink their decision to strike [“Hostess to shut bakery in Seattle, plus two more,” Business, Nov. 13].
Now, instead of being able to provide for their families, these workers will be joining the millions of those without jobs nationwide. Did they think that this was the time to call for a strike? The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection back in January, for the second time.
The company informed the workers that a strike at this point in time would cause closures, but rather than work with the company for a solution, the greed of the union outweighed common sense and now more than 600 workers are left with nothing. Well, the old saying proves true: “Pride comes before a fall.”
