Akin's 'legitimate rape' comment stirs controversy
Anything but objective
The Seattle Times runs a front-page story on a ridiculous comment made on a local radio station by an obscure politician nobody outside his state ever heard of [“Akin goes it alone with rape comment,” page one, Aug. 21]. The story is further amplified on the third page. There is, of course, an attempt to subtly tie this remark to the Mitt Romney campaign.
Now, let’s think about the racially insensitive remark the sitting vice president of the U.S. made before a largely black audience recently [“Contest already turns nasty,” News, Aug. 16].. You know, the one that started with: “Ya’ll.”
There was no mention of that much more egregious defamation in The Seattle Times that I saw. If there was a small article, and it was certainly not on the front page. Furthermore, no attempt to tie Vice President Biden’s remark to his boss was inferred — the media is anything but objective.
