Right-wing terrorists in America
Disowning the terrorists with conservative beliefs, motives
Leonard Pitts Jr. is correct [“America’s right-wing terrorists,” Opinion, Aug. 16]. Conservatives need to forcefully and vocally disown the terror spawned by killers espousing what, otherwise, are the core values of contemporary “conservatives” — opposition to government and taxation in any amount, immigrants, nonwhites, non-Christians and pro-unfettered gun rights including assault weapons.
Because if the current “conservatives” (including “conservative” Republicans) do not disown these killer terrorists, then they effectively condone those acts done in the name of so-called conservative values.
The many conservatives I know, who are principled, are much better and above that, and would disown any connection immediately. But Pitts is correct — that must be done publicly by leadership, as well as rank and file.
