Vacation days are not for side jobs
The Port of Seattle CEO has become a director of a public company, and Port officials are OK with that as long as he uses vacation days to attend board meetings [“Well-paid Port CEO also gets $230K job on the side,”page one, Aug. 11].
Vacation time is for rest and relaxation, not taking on the stress of a side job that pays the substantial sum of $230,000 a year.
It is customary for CEOs of public companies to serve on the boards of other companies, but that’s acceptable because they are reciprocal arrangements that don’t require those CEOs to use their vacation days.
