'Truth Needle' deems Rob McKenna 'right' when it comes to Washington's unemployment rate
Use the ‘Truth Needle’ for real issues
There is no doubt that The Seattle Times is all for Rob McKenna [“Rob McKenna for governor,” editorial, Opinion, July 1]. It endorsed him surprisingly early on June 29 before the campaign for governor had really begun. This is certainly its prerogative, but it would be nice if The Times confined endorsements to the editorial pages.
Instead, we see a front-page headline of the NWThursday [Aug. 9] section in dramatically large font: “McKenna’s right: State’s unemployment rate high.”
Using the “Truth Needle” makes sense for issues in dispute, but there is no disagreement here. In fact, Jay Inslee has put forward a very thoughtful jobs-creation program. How about providing some balance by giving us an equally dramatic front-page headline next week: “Inslee’s right: State needs more jobs.” I’m pretty sure this would get a green flag on the truth needle.
