Alaskan Way garden art
Not in the eye of this beholder
Pray tell what were they thinking??
I will grant that art is very subjective, truly in the eye of the beholder but The “Hanging Gardens of Alaskan Way” as depicted on the front page of NWTuesday section [Aug. 7] seems to stretch that maxim beyond the breaking point.
If a private party were to try to erect a “garden” like that prominently on their own property or a city right of way, regulators or SDOT would be on them in a heartbeat and rightly so.
“Artwork” like that insults our intelligence and could/should cause a loud outcry from the citizens of Seattle for the taxpayer-funded city of Seattle Office of Arts actually paying for something like that sophomoric attempt at “art.” No wonder the overwhelming feeling is that there is no credibility in government.
