Aurora, Colo., movie-theater shooting
Gun availability is ridiculous
And so now the blarney begins [“4 weapons bought legally over 2 months,” News, July 21]. “It’s not the guns that kills people, it’s the ...”
How’s this: a National Rifle Association executive says if only the theater had allowed guns maybe someone would have shot the shooter, or the governor of Colorado says that if guns weren’t available, he would have got poison gas or something?
No it’s not the guns that kill people, maybe it’s the Supreme Court? The Constitution? Congress? No, it was some of the 6,000 bullets from the guns that were among the killing supplies and costumes he apparently purchased legally.
It’s time, America! I’m a veteran and know that unfortunately there are times and places when guns are necessary, but this kind of availability is ridiculous in a civilized society.
