Inslee does not protect people

In reading the July 15 article about the contest for governor between Rob McKenna and Jay Inslee [“Different paths led Inslee, McKenna to elected office,” page one], I was bothered by the statement, “family and friends say Inslee has stepped up to try and help people throughout his life.” My contact with Inslee when he was my congressional representative shows otherwise.

Inslee voted against a proposed federal ban on partial-birth abortion, a procedure where the doctor terminates the life of an unborn baby moments before the birth of the baby. I emailed Inslee and asked him how he could possibly support a procedure that causes the death of an innocent unborn baby, and he sent me a boilerplate response regarding the reasons why he supports abortion, which he knew was totally different from partial birth.

In that regard, I will not forget that at the same time the late New York Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan delivered a passionate plea on the floor of the Senate urging his fellow members to vote in favor of the ban, saying partial-birth abortion is not about abortion, it is infanticide.

In pandering to the women liberals, Inslee lost any basis for claiming that he cares about protecting all people.
