The Seattle Times endorses Dave Reichert
An endorsement for an inadequate nominee
I was dumbfounded by The Times’ lame endorsement of Dave Reichert [“Re-elect Dave Reichert in the 8th district,” Opinion, July 12]. He gets a pass because he is finally representing a predominantly Republican district? Never mind that he still is inadequate in most every area except for helping fund national preserves after spending six years in office.
In most employment situations, he would have been let go years ago. I think he has had more than enough opportunities to learn how to address “critical policy questions.” You say the opponents need more experience at the local level yet any of them are likely to be better educated, more articulate and effective than Reichert, who has only two years of college.
Besides, by The Times’ endorsement of Rob McKenna over Jay Inslee, it said that someone who has been in Congress in the “other” Washington is out of touch with what is happening here. Is The Times having it both ways when it is convenient to support the Republican candidate?
