Proposed NBA/NHL arena in the Sodo District

More practical location needed

Peter Steinbrueck’s insightful article on the siting of a new basketball arena [“Why the big rush on Sodo arena,” Opinion, July 3] makes a lot of sense.

Why jeopardize the competitive edge of Seattle’s maritime industry for another gaming facility? Why not site it in the Kent/Auburn/ Green River Valley where freeway access and parking are much easier for the fan base? The downtown-business interests pretty much dictated where the present sports arenas are located to the disadvantage of the industrial base already in place there.

Now give the fans a break, consider the jobs at stake and site the new arena in a more practical location.

— Charles Hodson, Federal Way
