The real majority

OK Mr. Thayer, you want to hear from the silent majority? [“Silent majority needs to speak up,” Northwest Voices, June 21]. Well hear this from one member of the silent majority.

I don’t care if Seattle has a pro-basketball team, and I believe I am joined by 80 percent of this community. I’ve seen this movie before and I know how it ends: The owners or the league’s attorneys find a way out of the agreement and we taxpayers will be left holding the bag — no thanks.

I’m one taxpayer who, if you want to use my name and credit to borrow to build this stadium, then I demand that Chris Hansen, Steve Ballmer, the Nordstroms and their spouses personally guarantee the agreement — pledge their personal fortunes and not ours. Then you can tell me there is no risk.

If the signer of the agreement and the guarantor is a limited liability company (LLC) or corporation, then forget it. If they won’t sign personally, then there must be risk that they want to avoid and put off on us.

The NBA looks like it is dying a slow death. It can die on someone else’s nickel.
