Obama's new immigration stance
The wrong dream
This is classic Seattle Times —it has never met an illegal it didn’t love [“The dream lives,” editorial, Opinion, June 16].
Of course, this will be a magnet for new illegals, just as President Reagan’s amnesty back in 1986, granting amnesty to 3 million.
The “Times” can be proud that, in some small way, it was able to make many of the liberals who live in nice neighborhoods feel good about themselves.
They now have a steady source of hedge trimmers and groundskeepers while not having to live near them or pay for their public education.

I see the Republicans are all having a fit over the latest policy to let illegals stay in this country to work and get an education [“Romney blasts Obama for butting in on immigration,” Nation & World Report, June 18] — strange, they have no problems sending the jobs to their country.
I have a suggestion: let any outraged right-winger drawing unemployment for the past year challenge any illegal farmworker, and I would be glad to see a law that gives you his or her job.
Ever occur to any of you that if you bring the factories back to this country, the American workers would be paying taxes and really helping the economy?
Oh, that could never take the place of greed.
