Northwest's natural wealth

Providing environmental perspective

Assigning a monetary value to natural resources gives perspective to environmental trade-offs [“Accounting for natural wealth gains world traction,” Business/Tech, June 17]. The business of carbon credits and awarding damages for the BP Horizon oil spill are examples of relative value.

As if we weren’t already aware, the Northwest is a mother lode of natural wealth — our politics and our values should guard it well.

And from those who would exploit it — command top dollar.

— Art James, Port Townsend
