Sea wall reconstruction

Way past due

It is completely incomprehensible to me that the City Council is just now contemplating public discussions on the advisability of issuing a bond to pay for the reconstruction of even part of the sea wall. [“Seattle’s eroding sea wall is an underlying problem,” page one, June 15.]

For heaven’s sake, that and the repair work should have been completed decades ago!

With or without an earthquake, there is an imminent danger of the collapse of the Alaskan Way Viaduct with concurrent loss of life and property.

The sea wall should have been taken care of prior to all the time taken debating the advisability of the tunnel.

— Martin Paup, Seattle

Just wait and see

When the sea wall project goes forward, remember to make it strong enough to support the condos that will be built there.

“That won’t happen,” you say?

It’s only a matter of time before the right developer reaches the right politician with the right campaign contribution, and it will happen.

— Mike Rosen, Seattle
