NBA/NHL arena debate
NHL not a good fit
Is the talk of a National Hockey League team in Seattle [“City Council takes close look at arena financing,” page one, June 7] another swindle by Chris Hansen?
Since 1967, there have been numerous new hockey teams and teams relocated to new cities but nobody wanting to operate a team in Seattle, where people care more about hydroplane racing than hockey.
A new hockey team would have to compete with Hansen’s NBA team for fans. Parking would not be an available revenue stream for a new hockey team because Hansen would own all the parking near the new arena.
