Red meat increases death risk, study says

Plant-based diet is the way to go

The article titled “Study: All red meat is bad for you, increases death risk” [News, March 13] gives me great hope that slowly but surely, society is evolving.

When I became vegetarian 25 years ago, abstaining from meat was a concept that many found difficult to comprehend.

Today people are beginning to realize that not only is meat bad for your health, but factory farms are a huge contributor to the destruction of our environment, as well as to the suffering of countless innocent creatures.

I am now 40 years old, and contrary to the opinions of people who thought I would fall down dead without meat in my diet, I am in excellent health. I am often told I look 25, have low blood pressure, great cholesterol readings and no preventable diseases.

Numerous long-term scientific studies have proved that the best choice for humans is a plant-based diet — for your body, for the planet and for the animals.
