Miami Heat extends winning streak to 22 games | NBA
The Miami Heat won 108-91 in Toronto to extend its winning streak to 22 games, tied for second on the all-time list.
TORONTO — Back where its winning streak started on Super Bowl Sunday, the Miami Heat kept rolling right into March Madness.
Now it is on to Boston to face the rival Celtics — the team that ended the last streak this long.
The Heat equaled the second-longest winning streak in league history, beating the Toronto Raptors 108-91 Sunday for its 22nd consecutive victory.
"It's a special ride right now that we're on," LeBron James said. "The best thing about it is, we're doing it together."
James had 22 points and 12 rebounds for his career-best 32nd double-double of the season, Dwyane Wade had 24 points and nine assists and ex-Sonic Ray Allen scored 16 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter for the defending NBA champions.
The Heat matched the 22 consecutive victories recorded by the 2007-08 Houston Rockets. The league's longest winning streak is 33 games, set by the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers.
Miami will try to move into sole possession of second Monday when it visits the Celtics — who ended the Rockets' run five years ago.
"If there's any group that would be motivated in a circumstance like this, it's that team in green," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said.
Notes
• Stephen Curry scored 29 points and ex-Washington State standout Klay Thompson added 26 as the visiting Golden State Warriors routed Houston 108-78.
• Chris Paul had 20 points and eight assists to help the host Los Angeles Clippers beat the New York Knicks 93-80 in a meeting of division leaders.
• The league fined Milwaukee forward Larry Sanders $50,000 for using offensive language during the game and criticizing officials after Friday's 107-94 loss to Miami.
