MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Timberwolves got busy during the first 24 hours of free agency, wooing Portland swingman Nicolas Batum to town Sunday.

The Wolves are expected to offer a four-year deal that could approach $50 million for Batum, 23. No contract can be signed until July 11. The Trail Blazers would have three days to match Minnesota's offer.

Batum was scheduled to travel from his home in France to Minneapolis to meet with team owner Glen Taylor, president of basketball operations David Kahn and coach Rick Adelman.

Taylor, Kahn and Adelman reportedly traveled to Seattle to meet with former All-Star Brandon Roy, an unrestricted free agent, Friday.

Ex-Trail Blazer Roy, 27, was a standout for the Washington Huskies and Garfield High School in Seattle.

Roy, trying to come back from major knee problems, is expected to meet with Chicago, Indiana, Golden State and Dallas before making a decision.

The Wolves also have expressed interest in Jamal Crawford, 32, an unrestricted free-agent guard who is a Rainier Beach High graduate and played for Portland last season.

"If they have interest in me, then I have interest in them," Crawford said.
