Quin Snyder, a former standout guard at Mercer Island High School and Duke, is a finalist for the NBA Charlotte Bobcats' coaching job.

Ex-Missouri coach Snyder, 45, is an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Indiana Pacers assistant Brian Shaw — a former Lakers assistant and player — also is a finalist, said Rod Higgins, Bobcats president of basketball operations.

Snyder and Shaw, 46, had a second round of interviews this week that included Bobcats owner Michael Jordan.

Higgins confirmed ex-Utah Jazz coach Jerry Sloan, 70, told Charlotte officials he was withdrawing from consideration for the job.

Neither Snyder nor Shaw has been an NBA head coach. Higgins did not rule out the possibility of the team interviewing another candidate.

"Maybe," Higgins said. "I want to be as transparent as possible, but at the same time there are certain things we want to keep private."

The Bobcats (7-59 this season) have interviewed 10 candidates to replace ex-Sonic Paul Silas, who was told in April he would not get an extension as coach.
