Live chat with Philadelphia 76ers center Spencer Hawes
In the fall, former Seattle Prep and Washington Husky center Spencer Hawes will enter his fourth year in the NBA. A first-round pick (No. 10 overall) by the Sacramento Kings in the 2007 draft, Hawes was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers on June 17 in a three-player deal.
At Prep, he capped a memorable high-school career by leading the Panthers to the 2006 3A state championship and was named a McDonald's All-American.
Hawes moved on to the UW and played one season — averaging 14.9 ppg, 6.4 rpg and 1.74 bpg — before declaring for the NBA Draft.
In three pro seasons with the Kings, he has averaged 8.8 ppg and 5.5 rpg in 220 games.
Hawes will be available to answer your questions in a live chat at noon Wednesday on seattletimes.com.
The Seattle native will also be hosting his annual basketball camp — benefiting local-area charities — from Aug. 17-20 at Bellevue College for boys and girls ages 6-16. For more information, visit http://athletefoundations.com.
