COATESVILLE, Pa. —

A Pennsylvania school board president has vowed that a superintendent who resigned following reports of racist and sexist text messages on his district phone will not get "one red cent" of his remaining contract.

Coatesville Area School District President Neil Campbell says the board agreed to allow Richard Como to resign as superintendent to avoid a long legal battle. Some parents wanted him fired.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports (bit.ly/15rBkWS) that at a meeting Tuesday night Campbell gave residents a detailed timeline of events leading to the departures of Como and former athletic director James Donato.

The two submitted their resignations Aug. 29 following allegations they'd exchanged racially and sexually offensive texts with one another.

Campbell says Como's resignation will "get (him) away" from the district's children as quickly as possible.
