MIAMI — A man who ordered a slaying “pocket-dialed’’ 911 just before the fatal shooting, the Broward County, Fla., Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

On a recorded line, Scott Simon can be heard telling someone else that he’s going to follow the victim home and kill him. Minutes later, Nicholas Walker, 33, was shot and killed while driving his car onto an Interstate 95 onramp.

Homicide detectives arrested Simon, 24, of Pompano Beach, late Tuesday. He was charged with first-degree murder for his involvement in the May 5 slaying. Detectives do not believe Simon was the triggerman but that he coordinated the shooting after getting into an argument with Walker in a nearby Waffle House.

When deputies arrived at the shooting scene, they found Walker’s silver Buick crashed into a guard rail; Walker was already died of gunshot wounds. The investigation prompted a three-hour closure of all southbound lanes of I-95.

Detectives are seeking two other suspects in the slaying.
