LONDON —

Six men have pleaded guilty in Britain to plotting a terror attack on a rally by the far-right English Defense League.

The men were arrested in July in central England after a search of an impounded vehicle found hidden guns and other weapons, prompting police to trace and arrest the driver, the passenger and other suspects.

Prosecutors said the men were preparing to attack a June 30 march of the EDL in Dewsbury, northern England. It failed when the rally ended early.

The men were charged with preparing an act of terrorism and pleaded guilty Tuesday at Woolwich Crown Court.

The English Defense League claims to be a peaceful opponent of radical Islam. But its opponents accuse the party of racism, and its protests have often turned violent.
