BRATISLAVA, Slovakia —

Slovak police say they have seized a huge cache of illegal weapons that allegedly belonged to a criminal gang operating in the capital.

Police chief Tibor Gaspar says it is the "biggest arsenal" ever seized by police. It includes more than 260 kilograms (573 pounds) of explosives, 30 automatic rifles, 16 assault rifles, 16 rocket propelled grenades and other weapons.

Police said Friday some of the armaments were found in a garage in Bratislava and the rest outside the capital.

Most members of the gang had already been arrested, but its alleged boss is still at large.
