A fire at a barn in western New York has killed 56 sheep.

RIGA, N.Y. —
A fire at a barn in western New York has killed 56 sheep.
WHAM-TV reports (http://bit.ly/Vg59T4 ) a passer-by saw smoke Wednesday morning at the barn in the small Monroe County town of Riga, about 15 miles southwest of Rochester.
Firefighters were unable to save the sheep, and the barn was destroyed.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
