CHILLICOTHE, Ohio —

An Ohio man convicted of aggravated murder in the slaying of his daughter-in-law, who was strangled and dumped in a septic tank, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Jurors in Chillicothe (chihl-ih-KAHTH'-ee) recommended that sentence Wednesday rather than opting for the death penalty for 48-year-old William Inman. The judge followed the recommendation.

Jurors on Monday found Inman guilty of aggravated murder and other charges in 25-year-old Summer Inman's slaying in March 2011. The trial was moved to Chillicothe in Ross County after unsuccessful attempts to seat a Hocking County jury.

Inman denies killing his daughter-in-law. His attorney says they're relieved Inman avoided the death penalty, and he expects an appeal.

Inman's son and wife were convicted last year in the murder.
