ROSEAU, Dominica —

A tropical wave is approaching the eastern Caribbean and is expected to unleash heavy rains and wind across the area.

Fishermen in Dominica pulled their boats ashore on Saturday while people in Martinique and St. Lucia went shopping for water and canned goods.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center says the tropical wave will likely dissipate after passing through those islands.

The tropical wave is located about 40 miles (65 kilometers) east of Barbados and moving west at 25 mph (41 kph) with winds of 35 mph (55 kph).

The hurricane center canceled a tropical storm watch for the eastern Caribbean late Saturday morning.
