CAIRO —

Egypt's president-elect is expected to address thousands who have camped out in Cairo's Tahrir Square to protest the military's hold on power despite the election of a new civilian leader, acknowledging the revolutionary movement that was a key part of his winning coalition even as he prepares to deal with limits placed on his authority by the generals.

Mohammed Morsi is the first popularly elected president after the uprising that forced longtime leader Hosni Mubarak to step down. He will be sworn in before a high court Saturday.

A ruling military council took over from Mubarak to oversee the transitional period. But just days before Morsi was declared winner, the generals took measures that reduced his powers. This prompted thousands to protest.
