Former President Nicolas Sarkozy is under legal pressure just days after losing his immunity from prosecution as French head of state.
A lawyer for relatives of French victims of a deadly bombing in Pakistan nine years ago filed a complaint in a Paris court Monday against Sarkozy and two former advisers for allegedly violating a duty to secrecy in an investigation of the case. The lawyer, Olivier Morice, is focusing on a statement from Sarkozy's office in September about the investigation of a Karachi car bombing in 2002 that killed 15 people - mostly French defense contractors.
Sarkozy, a conservative, lost his re-election bid to Socialist Francois Hollande last month. His presidential immunity from prosecution formally expired on Friday night.
