TEHRAN, Iran —

Iran's intelligence service says it has detained suspects linked to assassinations of Iranian nuclear experts that Tehran claims are part of covert operations led by Israel.

Thursday's report by the official IRNA news agency quotes Iran's intelligence department as saying the suspects had alleged roles in the killings of a nuclear researcher in late 2010 and two employees at Iran's main uranium enrichment facility in January.

The report did not identify the suspects or give other details. Iran previously has reported arrests linked to the slayings.

In May, Iran hanged a man convicted in the killing of a nuclear physicist in early 2010.

At least five Iranian nuclear scientists have been killed since 2010. The U.S. and Britain have denied any roles, but Israel has remained silent on Iran's accusations.
