A man and his son are facing charges after sheriff's officials say they held guns on the parents of a new homeowner, who were changing the locks to prepare for their son's move.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (http://bit.ly/Ikmxvj) reports the father and son were arrested Monday and charged with aggravated assault, false imprisonment and criminal trespass.

The charges come after Newton County sheriff's deputies initially praised 45-year-old Robert Canoles and his son, 18-year-old Branden, for their actions. Authorities say they grabbed semiautomatic rifles and snuck up behind the couple, 61-year-old Jean-Joseph Kalonji and his 57-year-old wife Angelica. The father and son held them at gunpoint.

Deputies then booked the couple into jail when they couldn't show paperwork proving their son owned the house. Charges against the Kalonjis were later dropped.
