A magnitude-6.5 earthquake rattled the Pacific island nation of Vanuatu on Sunday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The quake struck at 9:05 a.m. Sunday local time (2205 GMT Saturday), some 8.7 kilometers (5.4 miles) below the surface, the USGS said.
The USGS said the quake hit some 148 kilometers (91 miles) southeast Port-Vila, Vanuatu and about 1,864 kilometers (1,158 miles) northeast Brisbane, Australia.
