TEHRAN, Iran —

A news agency says a fire has broken out at the fuel production unit of the Abadan refinery in southwestern Iran. No one was injured and no serious damage was caused.

The semiofficial Fars news agency quotes Moslem Rahimi, an Oil Ministry official, as saying that the fire was extinguished by firefighters within five minutes.

Rahimi said flames dropped from the torch on the fuel unit to the ground, igniting dry grass.

The Abadan refinery was destroyed during the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war but was later rebuilt.
