5 charged in Ga. after explosives found in car
Police say five people from the greater Atlanta area are being held without bond after an officer who stopped a car found two explosive devices filled with shrapnel.
The Associated Press
Police say five people from the greater Atlanta area are being held without bond after an officer who stopped a car found two explosive devices filled with shrapnel.
Police say they don't know what the explosives were for. Gwinnett County Police spokesman Officer Brian Kelly said Wednesday the officer found the devices when he asked to search the car during a routine traffic stop Monday.
Kelly says there was nothing to indicate any terrorist intent but that investigators believe the devices were made to cause great bodily harm or death.
A search warrant was obtained for an address in Buford, where officers discovered materials to manufacture such devices.
Kelly says the one woman and four men, aged between 42 and 62, are charged with possession of an explosive device.
