GALENA, Kan. —

A southeast Kansas school board member has been charged with firing a gun at a neighbor's house.

Sixty-eight-year-old William Van Cleave is charged in Cherokee County with aggravated assault, obstruction, endangering a child and two counts of criminal threat.

He was arrested Monday night after authorities allege he used a gun to fire a single shot toward the neighbor's house southeast of Galena. Children were inside the home at the time.
