Blast kills U.S. soldier; Marine dies in accident

LONDON — One U.S. soldier and two Iraqi civilians were killed when a roadside bomb exploded in the Baghdad area, the U.S. military said yesterday.

Central Command also reported that a Marine with the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force died in a vehicle accident in Anbar province.

As of yesterday, 790 U.S. service members have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq last year, according to the Department of Defense. Of those, 575 died as a result of hostile action and 215 died of nonhostile causes.
