Buzzed-about Parquet Courts to play Neumos

In sports, “parquet courts” are synonymous with the old Boston Garden’s checkered hardwood, where coach Red Auerbach’s Celtics dominated the NBA for decades. On their debut “Light Up Gold,” New York upstarts Parquet Courts conjure memories of another New England institution, Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers. Not lo-fi so much as no-frills, the half-hour-long album’s 15 transmissions from Brooklyn bohemia combine Richman’s youthful abandon with Pavement’s slacker irreverence.
