Kurt Vile to play Neumos

Kurt Vile, more a troubadour than his punk-sounding name suggests, performs at Neumos Sunday, May 12.

Kurt Vile’s name conjures up a snarling punk, but he’s actually a troubadour. The confident, multilayered “Wakin on a Pretty Daze” is the Philadelphian’s fifth LP, and, like his others, is awash in melodic warmth and urban cool — perfect for the onset of summer. Vile and his band, the Violators, play at 8 p.m. Sunday at Neumos, 925 E. Pike St., Seattle; $16 (206-709-9467 or www.neumos.com).
