Rediscovered Rodriguez at Neptune Theatre Thursday
Rodriguez, the rediscovered Detroit singer-songwriter whose life story was made into the Oscar-winning film “Searching for Sugarman,” plays a sold-out show Thursday, April 25, at Seattle’s Neptune Theatre.
When the documentary “Searching for Sugarman” won the Academy Award this year, the singer Rodriguez chose not to appear at the ceremony — he said he didn’t want to overshadow the filmmakers. But that film of his life, and reissues by Seattle’s own Light in the Attic label, have made the once-obscure Rodriguez an international superstar. His appearance here has been sold out for months. Rodriguez performs at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Neptune Theatre, 1303 N.E. 45th St., Seattle; sold out (877-784-4849 or www.stgpresents.org ).
