Bob Seger still turning the page
Old-school rock ’n’ roll never dies, it seems. Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band have taken to the road for the spring leg of their 2013 “Rock and Roll Never Forgets” tour, which includes a concert with opener Joe Walsh Friday at the Tacoma Dome.
Seger’s road show will be stocked with such hits as “Rock and Roll Never Forgets,” “Night Moves” (his timeless, breakthrough hit of 1976-77), “Mainstreet,” “Travelin Man/Beautiful Loser” and “We’ve Got Tonight,” as well as “Old Time Rock and Roll,” “Katmandu,” “You’ll Accomp’ny Me,” “Hollywood Nights” and “Like a Rock,” which became the theme of a long-running advertising campaign for Chevy trucks from 1991 to 2004 (Seger reportedly was motivated by a desire to support struggling Detroit autoworkers).
The heartland rocker with the distinctively raspy voice has sold more than 52 million records in the U.S. alone. He’s also an inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2004) and Songwriters Hall of Fame (2011).
