Dave Matthews Band is putting the finishing touches on a new album prior to embarking in May on its first North American tour since 2010. The tour includes DMB's customary three-day, end-of-summer gig at the Gorge Amphitheatre, Aug. 31 to Sept. 2 — with North Carolina folkies the Avett Brothers in tow.

Matthews, who was born in South Africa, lives in Seattle; by some accounts, his band has sold more concert tickets than any other over the past decade.

A ticket presale for fans begins at 7 a.m. Pacific Time Thursday at www.warehouse.davematthewsband.com. Tickets go on sale to the general public on March 9. See www.davematthewsband.com/tour for details.

Beach Boys

In celebration of 50 years in the music business, the Beach Boys are taking to the road this summer, with a stop at Chateau Ste. Michelle in Woodinville on July 13.

The legendary surf band was in the spotlight last weekend when it reunited on the Grammy telecast, performing the 1966 megahit "Good Vibrations."

Tickets ($69.50 — $125) go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 (800-745-3000 or www.ticketmaster.com).
