Seattle Symphony launches its Basically Baroque series with a sampling of J.S. Bach, Handel and Respighi, plus two Vivaldi violin concertos. Elisa Barston, the orchestra's second principal violinist, solos on the Vivaldi.

Seattle Symphony launches its Basically Baroque series with a sampling of J.S. Bach, Handel and Respighi, plus two Vivaldi violin concertos. Featured in the latter will be Elisa Barston, the orchestra's second principal violinist. Barston is a former member of the Cleveland Orchestra and has soloed with the Chicago Symphony and Los Angeles Philharmonic. Gerard Schwarz, whose orchestral arrangement of Bach's "Art of Fugue" anchors the program, will conduct. 8 p.m. tonight and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday (the Sunday program includes Musically Speaking commentary and the Vivaldi will not be performed), Benaroya Hall, 200 University St., Seattle; $17-$67 (206-215-4747 or www.seattlesymphony.org).
