‘Gloria,’ ‘Gimme Shelter,’ ‘Labor Day,’ ‘The Legend of Hercules’

DVD releases for Tuesday, April 29, include the Chilean comedy/drama “Gloria,” “Gimme Shelter,” starring Vanessa Hudgens as an outcast pregnant teen, “Labor Day,” with Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin; and “The Legend of Hercules,” featuring Kellan Lutz.

3.5 stars“Gloria” (R; in Spanish, with English subtitles): Paulina García stars in Sebastián Lelio’s intimate portrait of an ordinary, middle-aged divorcee with an extraordinary resilience for navigating life’s twists and turns.

3 stars“Gimme Shelter” (PG-13): An outcast pregnant teen (Vanessa Hudgens) — the daughter of an abusive mother (Rosario Dawson) and veteran of countless foster homes — struggles to survive in a world from which she feels all hope has fled, until a sympathetic hospital chaplain (James Earl Jones) takes her under his wing and guides her to a warm and welcoming shelter.

2 stars“Labor Day” (PG-13): A shy divorced mother (Kate Winslet) falls in love with an escaped convict (Josh Brolin) holding her captive in her own home.

1.5 stars“Devil’s Due” (R): This demonic-possession tale serves up a “Rosemary’s Baby” variation of the found-footage formula. Allison Miller and Zach Gilford star.

1 stars  “The Legend of Hercules” (PG-13): Kellan Lutz (Emmett Cullen in “The Twilight Saga”) portrays the mythical Greek hero in director Renny Harlin’s origin story.
