An epic party ("Project X") and rescue ("Big Miracle") come to DVD Tuesday. Star ratings are by Seattle Times movie reviewers, freelancers or wire services. For full reviews, search the movie title at seattletimes.com.
"Big Miracle" (PG): An unlikely coalition of forces, including a reporter (John Krasinski) and his Greenpeace ex-girlfriend (Drew Barrymore), tries to save three gray whales trapped by ice in the Arctic Circle.
"Jeff, Who Lives at Home" (R): The Duplass brothers' film is "ultimately about what happens when you're supposed to go to Home Depot; in other words, it's a lot like life," says Seattle Times movie critic Moira Macdonald. Jason Segel stars as the title character, a 30-year-old slacker who sets off to do an errand for his mom (Susan Sarandon) but winds up on a completely different path involving his estranged brother (Ed Helms).
"Wanderlust" (R): Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston play a married pair of stressed-out Manhattanites who, after a job loss, end up at a commune where rent is cheap and love is free.
"Project X" (R): Three high-schoolers (Thomas Mann, Oliver Cooper and Jonathan Daniel Brown) plan a parents-out-of-town party that spirals out of control.
"My Afternoons With Margueritte" (not rated; in French, with English subtitles): A chance encounter on a park bench changes the lives of an elderly woman (Gisèle Casadesus) and an illiterate working man (Gérard Depardieu). No star rating provided.
