Tuesday's new DVD releases feature "Forks Over Knives" and "Madea's Big Happy Family." Star ratings are by Seattle Times movie reviewers, freelancer or wire services. For full reviews, search the movie title at seattletimes.com

3 stars"Forks Over Knives" (PG). A full-length documentary proclaiming that meat is toxic and dairy is poison.

2.5 stars"Madea's Big Happy Family" (PG-13). The movie is stuffed to the gills with writer/director/actor Tyler Perry's mix of the sacred and the silly and a serious dose of self-help for the self-absorbed, and while it's as messy as any Madea comedy, Perry and his ensemble are funnier than they've been in ages.

3 stars"Prom" (PG). An utterly predictable but likable movie about planning "the best prom ever," starring Thomas McDonell and Aimee Teegarden, hits just the right note of drama mixed with cuteness.

3 stars"I Will Follow" (Not rated). Ava DuVernay's thoughtful, well-acted drama about a woman whose life is altered by an aunt and mentor who died of breast cancer.
